One problem with furren steel mills is the steel produced is high volume of recycled steel which is a combination of cast, steel, mixtures of other metals that go into making modern steels.. The ability to control material content is seriously compromised, consequently..
In the "Old Days" of American Steel.. it started with Iron Ore straight from the ground, purified, then the requisite amounts of nickel, manganese, etc were added to produce "new steel" ... What is sold now is "remelted what ever is in the pile".... more or less.
