I don't know that any of the new appliances are going to be as robust as older items.  Seems like in order to achieve efficiency standards they have marginal motors and compressors and such that run at the max all the time, or so I was told by a tech who came to fix a water/ice tray fill tube on my newish Samsung fridge. They look nice, and have some good features, but I am not sure they are going to last or perform.  My Samsung has issues with the freezer too, it is erratic, and the ice machines never perform as billed.  Was not a cheap unit, so that is disappointing.  I would suggest whatever you buy to get an extended warranty, I got my fridge at Lowes and sorta beat on them to throw that in for a reduced price.  The appliance market seems to be fairly killer these days, lots of the big stores competing and prices are competitive, and you can play them off on one another for warranties, delivery, etc.

My 22 cubic foot chest freezer stopped freezing yesterday. Luckily I went out

things as frozen as usual. I have about 1/2 of 1/2 a cow left from a purchase
this spring.
The freezer is about 30 years old so I guess it had a good life.
Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on a replacement? I’ll
probably get something a little smaller this time as there is only the wife and
I at home now. I like the coffin style as it is almost impossible to leave it
open. I had a bad experience with an upright when the door was left open and we
were gone for about two weeks. We came home to a very nasty rotten meat mess
that was really awful. I imagine it was pretty close to the smell of a rotting
corpse.
Thanks in advance,
