I tried Netgear after several failures of other brands, and the Netgear has lasted the longest here. YMMV. I do get updates for the Netgear stuff, even though there are newer models of the hardware. I have four pieces now - in four different buildings, all on the same network - working great (knocking on wood). Two of the routers have USB sticks stuck in them for shared storage - works fine.
