Your son is correct. In addition to a slow falloff of the blue LED's photon emission with use, the fluorescent phosphors that are part of all white LED's fade with use, just like old fluorescents tubes whose phosphors are excited by high-intensity ultraviolet that comes from an electric arc through a low-pressure mercury vapor atmosphere. I believe it is a fairly linear process. IIRC, end-of-life for LED's and fluorescents is defined as 50% or thereabouts.
LED's just last a lot longer than gas-discharge or incandescent lamps. -- Jim _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
