Copper propane line? Around here the installer buries it with a spade, chops through the sod, wiggles the spade a bit to make room, then chops the spade in 8" farther down the path... In that case, the line will be 6-8" deep and in a pretty straight line from the tank to the building, if the two ends of the bury are line of sight to each other.
