Which is exactly why I don't want one. I've never had a solid pully break, or cause the alt to seize.

Hmm, that alternator has the clutched pulley (I recently installed one on
the alternator on The White Whale). I'll bet it was the clutched pulley
that crapped the bed, not the alternator. New pulley is about 30 bucks,
then you need a special tool (I have it) to install. Are the alternator
shaft threads really gone, or are you looking at the remains of the
clutched pulley?
