most M103 would go 200k, but by then they were ready to have a head gasket, but still running.
M104s seemed to go beyond 200k

What was the engine with the balance shaft issue?  I thought that was the v6.  M112?

Better. Longer lived, no head gasket or valve guide issues.  Pretty bulletproof 
engine, many out there well into the 200,000 range.
