Finished a very interesting book. THe story itself is quite
interesting, and the references in the text to authors, and their
detective stories, spy stories and how they are are related to Operation
Mincemeat makes the book even more interesting. The book also has
pictures of many of the people involved with Operation Mincemeat.
OPERATION MINCEMEAT

Operation Mincemeat was an operation executed in WWII before the
invasion of Sicily by the Allies to make the Germans believe the
invasions would occur in Greece and in the Western Mediterranian. It was
conceived by a British intelligence officer named Ian Fleming. Yes, the
man who would later invent the world’s most famous spy, Bond, James Bond.
The author noted that many authors had experience in the
intelligence/spy world.

which was also used for Operation Mincemeat. Darby was involved in the
invasion of Sicily, thus protected somewhat by Operation Mincemeat.
The periscope and conning tower of the British Submarine “Seraph” used
in Operation Mincemeat and by Bill Darby and some of his Rangers are
preserved and memorialized at the Citadel in South Carolina.
