Thanks for the troubleshooting guide.....GP #3 is bad and will be replaced
this week.  It looks like a bear to get at, but nothing like a challange!

Almost surely one or more glow plugs are bad. Measure the glow plug
resistance at the BIG plug that goes to the relay. Should be 0.6 ohms
cold and no more than twice that hot.

If the engine temp sensor (B11/8 I think) goes bad, there may be no
afterglow, but the dash lamp would glow normally.

I've attached the trouble shooting guide from the engine manual (will be
stripped from the list copy).
