Went to HF and bought a $16 plastic welding kit. A BIG honking soldering iron with a big flat tip on it. Four screws and the bumper pulls right off. Took me all of 2 minutes to remove it. Took it into the garage and got it set up on stands so I could work on it. Pieced together as many pieces of the blowout I could, using stainless steel mesh to reinforce and hold them together. Got those put together as a unit, stuck them in the hole and tacked everything in place. Couldn’t get to all of it from the back because of the reinforcements in the bumper, but got most of it. Started on it from the outside. Slow going, but after about an hour I got it all welded up. Isn’t pretty, but I think it’s better than a gaping hole. I guess at some point I could sand it off and hit it with a rattle can, but for now I’m going to leave it as-is. Gives it sort of a Frankenstein look. Pics to follow once I get it back on the car. -D _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
