That sealant will not work on a cracked evaporator -- the original had copper 
tubes feeding it and an aluminum body crimped together.  The differential 
expansion/contraction causes the aluminum to fatigue and crack all over the 
place.

I've replaced two, and need to do a third if I want to keep the "new" 300D 
going (questionable at 400k miles), so I had a failure rate of three out of 5.

It's a doable job, but plan on a long weekend and lots of swearing.  Be very 
careful with the floor vent linkage, it's fragile and you have to fab up 
something to replace it if it breaks or you have not defrost....
