Or in the case of my Cruze, factory recommended drain intervals. 
That little engine is hard on oil. 
I've seen 7500mi oil analysis of 5W30 EP that looked like the oil just barely 
lived long enough. 
But going by the MSDS, the 5W30 base stock is much the same whether M1 or M1 
EP, and there isn't any significant amount of G-IV or G-V in it, so that 
explains that. 

I put 0W20 EP in it in December, had planned to change it to xW30 before temps 
got over 80 degrees. I've already driven it 4-5 times with temps in the low 
80s. But looking at the MSDS, I'm thinking what's in it will stand up to a high 
output turbo engine better than any xW30 Mobil product. The 1.4 turbo GDI is 
hard on oil because it's high specific output, because it's direct injection, 
and because it has a timing chain. 

And I'm the sort of old fashioned guy who thinks oil with high performance base 
stock lasts longer than oil with lots of additives in it.
