Grant makes an excellent point I failed to mention.

It’s absolutely critical that you have the gun fitted to you, or have someone 
who is skilled enough to check the fit.

I dropped some serious coin for a “B"rand name gun without doing so. It was a 
great shotgun and a good deal. I couldn’t hit the side of a barn with it. We 
have a certified shooting coach available at my club, and he does fittings for 
a very reasonable amount. The minute I lifted the gun to my shoulder he just 
shook his head and told me I would never be able to shoot well with it.

Long story short, the stock was too short for me and as a result I couldn’t get 
a good cheek weld with it.

I sold the “B”rand name gun and bought a nice Lanber that I had been looking 
for a long time. I paid Roger, my coach, to fit it for me and it worked out 
perfectly. It cost me less and my scores went up significantly afterwards.
