There, I fixed it.   I have not seen a tire iron that would fit in a 3/8" or 11 mm hole.   Not even my BMW motorsickle tire irons will.  They are small.   I always have a 12" extension in my box, and they work well for this job.   Still takes me more than a minute.   More like 10-15 to stop, open the hood drag out the tools change the spring and then clean up pack up and start off again.

The lug wrench has to be the 123 or later style (or late 115) as the earlier ones had a hook on the end to pop off the 110/111/112 center hubcap.

All it takes is a 3/8 Dia rod/lug wrench/long (12" x 3/8) socket extension, a
couple of 13mm wrenches and a minute and you can swap the spring out.

The lug wrench is the critical tool here.
