All I can speak to about reliability of a Sprinter is that they seem to REALLY hold value well. I feed my addiction and desire for one by stalking them on CL. Even a high miles 2004 example in reasonable condition brings $10k or more. I do not see the civilian models come available, but that might be due them being snapped up for RV conversion since they are not abused like a work truck. I also do not see many of the people hauler sort (long, tall, lots of seats) Maybe those go to auction instead of CL
