I've got an alternator that might fit that car. I got it for my '84 190D that had a strange pulley spacing so I could never get it to fit right. You can have it for the price of coming to get it... -Curt

Don't use the HVAC blower fan, don't use the radio, don't shut off the engine. Maybe get one of those voltage meters that plug into the cigarette lighter so you can monitor the battery charge, if it goes below 12.0 volts, probably not enough juice left for a restart. When the battery gets really low, you will lose the ABS and SRS (the lights will come on) and the HVAC will default to full heat. Maybe get one of those jump start packs from Costco? I think Kaleb burned up the Harbor Freight version trying to start a diesel once.
