When they suggested it, I had a racing shop replace the valve springs on my '59 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spyder Veloce with Jaguar springs. That enabled the valves to close more quickly and thus the engine could be run to higher RPM. I sold it to a friend who later told me the stronger springs had stretched the valve stems and the valves started leaking. He had the head redone with new valves and standard springs.
