So I know that cars were going for around $10 or so. I remember when it was
common for Rod Roddy to announce "A New Car!!" and the price would wind up
being some 8 or 9 thousand. Then the prices gradually worked their way up
past $10k.

So my 240D costing some $20 makes me feel prestigious.

In '82 a 240D automatic cost 23,800 on the east coast. In '84 the 190D replaced it at just under $20,000.
