We had a contract carrier a few years ago that had a basic Chevy, like a Cavalier or Impala, that had rigged a steering wheel on the right side of the cabin with a spare steering column and a couple of bicycle sprockets and chain. It looked real Rube Goldberg but it was actually pretty cool. Of course the car was a beater, but it did the job.
