In Indianapolis they bought up loads of land around the airport years ago and populated it with industrial space, mainly large distribution warehouses. Now there’s nothing remotely close to the airport in the way of dwellings with a few random exceptions of people who refused to sell out. They also covered large areas of what used to be farmland with solar farms, too.
There are still some areas that are populated east of the airport where development had already been present some time before, but they try to limit air traffic on the runways that affect them. Tampa’s airport is already surrounded by houses, and they’re not going away. There’s an area on the bay that is old money that faces the approach for one of the primary runways. The rich people bitch about it, but the airport brings in so much money that the County pretty well ignores them. -D > On Apr 19, 2021, at 3:50 PM, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes > <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > > Every time I fly into DFW it seems a new addition of houses are being built. > It’s funny they are building these brand new houses right by the airport or > in the flight path of planes taking off and landing.
