If you can, look out the back window of the tow vehicle and focus on the
rear of the trailer, then simply drive the rear of the trailer where you
want it to go... Your eye hand coordination will happen better that way.
You are "driving the trailer" instead of "backing up".

If you are trying to do it by looking in your side mirrors, you will
quickly be challenged if you are just learning.

With a properly rigged 5th wheel, the trailer pivot point is just ahead of
the tow vehicle rear axle, so you get rid of the "lead / lag" of the
displacement with the bumper pull position.  Once you try it, you'll like
it.

Also, the heavier the load, with a 5th wheel, the trailer pulls much more
stable. Again, because of the leverage point of the hitch, relative to the
load balance of the tow vehicle with the trailer load attached.
