Maybe it’s the quality of the lamps you’re buying?

I buy only name brand, like GE, and I’ve got a house full of them that are at 
least a couple years old or more. Have yet to replace one.

I did have to replace one in an outside fixture, but it’s on roughly 8-12 hours 
a day and it’s in an inverted position, which I suspect might have something to 
do with the failure, not to mention the temperature and climate extremes it’s 
exposed to.

I gladly use LEDs over CFLs, as I hate having to wait for them to “warm up”.
