Went out to the shop just now and it’s got an inch or 2 of water in it. On the
back side of the shop there is an overhead door that I never use. In the
pasture behind that the water from the back average drains in that area toward
the road. There is some dirt work done next to the shop, basically they built a
small levee behind the barn and shop to direct water toward the road instead of
in the shop. The problem is there is a space about 5 feet wide between the
backside of this and the shop that water will pond and if it gets up to the
door will come in. I have not seen it this bad before but I have been meaning
to see if I can get an angle blade for the tractor and cut a ditch at the end
of the shop to let this water drain out toward the road instead of getting deep
enough to get into the shop. The closed overhead door on the opposite wall was
holding water in so I cracked it open to allow it just flow out the other side.
I need to solve this problem ASAP so this does not continue to happen. Water
also runs thru the barn which I would like to stop. It also has this levee
behind and to the high side of the barn but still gets water thru it. I think
it’s runoff from the roof. For that I’m probably going to need to haul in some
dirt to build up the level of the dirt floor inside the shop so water does not
come in. After it does, it’s literally a mud pit in there.
