I flew first class on the upper deck a few times on BA transatlantic flights.
That was very nice as there were few seats up there, it was like a little club.
This was long before 9/11 so the pilots would leave the cockpit door open and
welcomed short visits to the flight deck. The bevvie selection was always quite
Impressive too. I had no issues with extensively sampling the offerings...
start off in the Concorde lounge then roll onboard champagne glass in hand...
the way airline travel should be...

I noticed early on that most of the passengers in business and first were
pretty much assholes and were not particularly pleasant travel companions so I
made it a point to chat up the FAs and hang with them some on the longer
flights. It’s amazing how much better the experience was and how much fun it
was to have those interactions with regular folks doing what was mostly a
pretty boring job. Not to mention that won a bit of special treatment which
some of the other passengers noticed...
