I was surprised to see that the input signal is pulsed. I would think the photo eye would be a simple set of contacts, and you could merely jump them out.
I have seen sunlight play weird tricks on long range photo eyes at work. A few days a year the sunlight would affect them. Installed some form of sun block and the problems are gone.
