The M112 350 was only in the 03-05 ML.  The w211 was E320 up to 05 still with the 3.2 M112, in 06 they went to 350 with the 272 with the balance shaft issues.

He’s safe with any E320 or potentially E350 up to 2005. There is a variant
that’s an E350 used in the MLs and possibly other models that is the M112,
which can be verified through the engine number using the VIN. Avoid any E350
branded model from 2006-2008.

I have had several, with two still in the fleet - 1998 E320 wagon with 210k on the clock,
2002 E320 sedan with about 130k on the clock. Both have been "top off and
drive" cars for the most part. I would definitely buy another.

OK thanks. This car sold before he got there, but he's on the lookout now.
This one was a 2002, silver, 81k miles, $4950 - listed and sold on
Thanksgiving day.

It’s simply amazing how reliable the 112 or 113 with the 722.6 is. Almost
as great as a 606 with that 722.6.

M112 is a very bulletproof engine with good longevity and low
maintenance costs/requirements. Know issues? Probably the only thing I can
think of is the breather getting leaky, which is a once in a 100k issue.

Our son is going to look at a 2002 E320 4matic tomorrow. I gather that
it
has the M112 V6 - is this the one with the balance shaft problems?
