30 years ago a 1600lb Metro got 50+ mpg at 55mph.
Now a 2900lb Cruze gets 50+mpg at 55mph, but a lot worse than the Metro
around town.
It would be interesting to put a 50hp GDI engine in the Metro and see
what mpg it gets with the same performance as before.
I kind of want to make a mid engine car out of an old Sprint/Swift/Metro
and a Cruze/Civic drivetrain. Keep it under 2000lb and it'll run circles
around an old R5 Turbo.
