My uncle painstakingly restored a first gen Barracuda with the big rear
windshield. New paint and everything.
My aunt decided it should be a beater for the teens to drive.
My cousins thought it was an embarrassment to be seen in it. The brother
would ride to school with his older sister and hide under the dash when
he saw other teens and she would envy him because she had to drive and
couldn't hide.
My friends and I thought my cousins were insane and should ride the bus
to school as that was what they deserved.

very decent Mercedes sedan to her daughter a few years back. I think
the daughter drove it a few times and then decided that she did not
want it. Apparently, her friends teased her about it "poor little
rich girl" or something like that. Mom and Dad were not rich but were
comfortable and worked hard and she was an only child - rather
spoiled. They bought her a Jetta to replace the Mercedes.
