Commercial specification biodiesel is chemically refined vegetable oil made to a specific DOT specification. The raw material may have been vegetable oil [new or used] but the final material must meet the DOT specification to be sold. It also must meet DOD specification since the government is a major contract buyer of spec biodiesel. Additionally, all 50 states have state specifications biodiesel must meet. What it is not, is "used fryer oil" just dumped into some diesel.
