Had some time to spare this afternoon since I’m in AZ working on East Coast time, meaning work is over by 2:00 pm local time, so I went at the ML350 and replaced the right (easy) motor mount. Took me maybe all of an hour to do, not bad. Instead of trying jack the engine out of the engine compartment as is almost necessary to get the clearance to remove and install the mounts, I loosened the support arm for the top of the mount from the engine block. It’s pretty easy to get to on the passenger side, with the exception of one bolt you can get straight on them with an extension.
Tricky part is avoiding the back of the alternator, which makes getting at the top right bolt difficult without drawing sparks when your ratchet extension hits the positive buss bar on the back of the alternator. I pre-emptively covered the buss bar with some strategically placed pieces of electrical tape to avoid a meltdown. Got it back together and everything nice and tight. Couldn’t tell a big difference, but I didn’t drive it and the left side is still borked, so it’s probably not going to make a big difference until I replace the left side, which is a lot more involved. Maybe tomorrow, probably Saturday if I feel lucky. -D _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
