I told her it was not hard to do. Her toolset (I got her years ago --
big Craftsman set when it was still Sears) was back home so she went to
Lowes and bought a set of torx somethings, did not take her long. Small
hands made it easier than when I did mine! I raised her right!
Dr. Boy on the other hand has no patience or interest in dealing with
cars, but he will call me when he thinks there is an issue so at least
there's that. And even now that he has a real doc job he has no
interest in upgrading his 2012ish CRV as he really likes it and it does
what he wants it to do. He kinda got the cheap gene from me so there's that.

The most amazing thing about that whole story is having a girl child that can
put on a crank position sensor.

was dead in the driveway Saturday morning in Chapel Hill where she is
visiting. Crank but no fire. I suggested crank position sensor, she got one
and put it on, still no fire. I suggested she order a scanner, she got an
iCarsoft MB2 (which is now cheaper than when I bought one a coupla years ago,
go figure) that arrived yesterday from Amazon. She scanned it and there were
no indications of what might be wrong. Her BF came and determined there was no
fuel pressure at the fuel rail, there is a Schrader valve there you can press
and fuel should squirt out. So maybe fuel pump?
She did some research and found out there is an extended warranty (now 15yr) on the fuel
system so if it is in there she is covered. She had the shop she bought it from in CH
come collect it this morning, they ran diagnostics and found "Standing fuel in the
sending unit" which I don't quite understand but it is covered by the extended
warranty, so they were having it shipped off to the MB stealer, wherever it is.
So anyway, some good news I guess, at least it won't cost her anything to get
it going again.
