Today, was in the low 70s and raining - needed the defrost - pushed the
button & the fan went to high and the temp of the air blowing out was
very warm.  It cleared the w'shield quickly but I didn't think the warm
air blowing was normal.  Also, I could feel the ac compressor coming
on/off ocassionally - which I believe is normal..

Is this how the defrost works?

DEFROST is full heat. When the compressor comes on (will to dehumidify the air) that will moderate the heat, but heat is still on full.

That's NOT a flaw - it's a feature.
