A very long time ago, I built a BD5 from the kit, which was never supplied complete, as Mr. Bede did in those days. Which meant that I made multiple trips to Newton, KS, to kick parts into existance that otherwise didn't exist since Bede had and owned the only full set of jigs and fixtures. One of the things that I did was redesign the cockpit area by adding 11 inches, which would accommodate my 6'4" body. Since Bede never supplied an engine that would work, I designed / modified a Honda Civic engine with gear reduction to drive the prop, and flew the airplane with good success. Bede and I had a love / hate relationship because I had "redesigned his airplane" and made it work... which it did. It was wicked fast, had the flight personality of a run over rattlesnake, and always drew way more attention than I wanted. I sold it after about 200 hrs of flight and a 1,000 hrs of "fixing" to a guy that promptly destroyed it and himself... case closed... Anyway, as someone here stated, the cycle looks very much like the Bede aircraft, only it has 2 sets and is about as crash worthy... [ie, one mistake and you die]. A Benze it is not.
