Big difference between backup systems good for overnight, and those that can handle a week or longer. (Boy, would that get old fast!)
We're basically pretty old-school. Rope-pull genny, x2, the outdoor gas grill (with side burner), and a Coleman stove if need be. Can cook on grill, Coleman, or even the indoor wood stove. Lighting is the usual array of candles, with 2x Aladdin lamps. The genny runs only in the evening, usually, and its primary job is the fridge and two freezers. But a couple of lights is no issue, along with TV and device charging. Big Bertha (45kW Kohler) only comes out to play if showers, or laundry, is desired. Usually several days into an outage.
