It looks pretty easy and straight forward.

The cheapest I have found the water pump kit is $252, but I’d have to ship it. I can drive to the ginormous Cummins dealer near my home and snag one for $282.

 

What else should I consider changing out whilst I monkeying around in there? Of course I will inspect the belt and replace if it looks sketchy, but what about the thermostat? Idler pulley?

How difficult is it to change the water pump on that engine?

I would think the worst case scenario would be that the replacement does

not last as long if you buy aftermarket.

Have you tried looking online for an OEM with a discounted price?
