I’ve always run my 2 stroke engines on my 1/5 scale RC cars dry either by
pinching the fuel line or running it out of fuel. None of them have shown any
ill effects. The manual states that the carb should be dry when the engine is
stored for any length of time. I left my first one with fuel in the carb over
the winter, and come springtime, it wouldn’t stay running. I ended up selling
it, so the new owner had to put a new carb on it.
