On my E300D (606.91x motor) the chain tensioner leaks slightly. It's the only spot on the motor that is wet from oil. I suspect that the aluminum seal at the end cap (not the seal between the unit and the engine) is to blame. But than it says to replace the complete unit, don't disassemble (~ $100). Has anyone experiences with this? TIA Hans, On my 617 diesel, when you remove the cap, a stiff spring pushes out. Not insurmountable, and I don't see why you can't remove yours and replace the sealing washer, or just add a little thread sealant to the existing washer.
