My friend damaged his 1999 E320 key and was unable to start the car. The local dealer required that he present the vehicle in person with title/registration in order to make a duplicate key. Car was parked in a garage inaccessible to tow trucks, so there was no way to do this. Instead, he found a local computer tech wizard to repair the key. Success. Cost him under $50.
