Not very. Just a bit ackward to get at. I think the proper method is to unscrew one or both of the fittings next to the pump and then use a wrench. Personally I grabbed a pair of vice grips and got it loosened and out, and the new one (different style) was small enough that a wrench would fit on it without issue.
