The chrome wheel arches are an abomination on any car and also hasten infection 
with the tinworm. I can’t count the number of W126s I’ve seen over the years 
where all it took to start rust occurring with these things on the car was the 
little screws they used to self-drill into the fender lip.

I’m not a fan of the 8-hole wheels on W123s, but with the limited choices of 
wheel sizes for these cars, especially 15” versions, I would consider it for 
just that reason. I’ve owned a W123 with stock 15” steel wheels, and it was a 
totally different car to drive compared to the 14” stock wheels. I completely 
agree that they should be bundts (yuck!) or steelies with color-keyed wheel 
covers, the classiest looking setup I've ever seen on any car trying to 
coordinate wheel colors with the body color scheme.
