Fine for a general mail/wordprocessing/internet surfing system, dangerous for a special use system. I end up telling customers almost every day "yeah, time to reinstall the OS" because some update has caused our software or hardware not to work. Mac OS 10.4.7 was a great example, it broke our dongle driver.
