Did you select L from a stop? If you were rolling, selecting L will
get 2nd. Try flooring it - punching the kick down switch from a stop.
You should hear/feel it shifting into 2nd. in 15-25 MPH range (I
forget exactly where it's supposed to shift into 2nd.).
