Yep, but the key is "that I installed"... This was done by some teenage weenie
with a thundergun who thinks he ought to be in a nascar pit but is stuck
working at some tire shop. Hence, I'm rectifying the situation since I have
twisted a couple , but none off (yet)

The Swedes know cold... So do the Germans for that matter, its not all lowland
country.
The Swiss drive alot of German cars and they KNOW cold too.

When I was born my Mom had a VW type 3 fastback. They lived in northern Maine
and she likes to say that the week I was born it never got above -35F, thats
-37C...
Had a propane heater in the car for heat as the aircooled VW heat was in no way
up to it.

We're supposed to see low single digits tonight. I was at the hardware store
last weekend and happened to spot a christmas light timer on sale, picked it up
so tomorrow the 190D should be nicely warmed when I'm ready to go.

If nout Euro, then what type are you thinking might better handle cold?

I have this notion that Saabs are built for the cold.

This is a topic of interest to me here in Minnesota.

I re-read the original post.

I think that the reasoning for most cars being off the road is people
unprepared with either crappy tires or water in their gas.
Fuel injected cars today will tolerate much worse gas than years ago while
still performing reasonably well so I bet people don't use drygas like they
used to.
An iced gas line will stop a car totally dead with no regard to how good a
"winter car" it is.

Which reminds me, as its supposed to get really cold tonight (2F tomorrow if
weather.com is to be believed) I think I'll put some iso alcohol in the
vehicles tonight.

That would seem a bit strange to see since I am on my second Passat and
have never had any problems in the cold with it. Even when the temps
dipped to way below zero it still started and I was never left stranded.
They are built for the cold, at least the two I owned were

Yep thats about right.. hers is doing osx 10.4.8 and is 70 secs, so 75
isnt too far off ;)

Nope that was it

When is the last time you booted a 5 year old PC with the NEWEST pc os
and
had ANYTHING (let alone a desktop with your apps started) in 75
seconds?

Heck will they even pass the windows banner in 75 seconds?

And out of sleep is sub-5-seconds. I'm impressed!

I've been greasing the lug nuts/bolts on all my cars for the last 40
years. Haven't had one fall off yet. I use anti-seize now because it
is more politically correct that lithium grease. Same idea though. I
do check that they are snug now and then.
