These guys over torque lug nuts & bolts because the business is afraid of being sued and it's easier to set the torque wrench on the high side than to keep a calibrated torque wrench on the shelf & to train every $8.00 / hour tire change who walks in.
Also, not all lug bolts that are too tight are over torqued. It always takes more torque to free a bolt than to set a bolt plus the bolts will tend to seize over time. I've had to use a long pipe on more than just several lug bolts that I had put on with a torque wrench set at 85 lb ft. This was done by some teenage weenie with a thundergun who thinks he ought to be in a nascar pit but is stuck working at some tire shop. Hence, I'm rectifying the situation since I have twisted a couple , but none off (yet) -j. _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
