Many people have mentioned to me "dangers" of the reserve fuel can, without thinking about its location. Remember this can is designed to fit INSIDE a full size spare tire. Imagine the force it would take in an accident to travel through an inflated tire and steel rim! Leaking, now that's another story. Eric, I agree with you, the gas is probably safer inside the spare wheel, which also has an insert for additional protection. In fact, I recently saw an insert in an 85 300D and wondered if it would act as a reservoir if the can were to leak. of course, it is the fumes that would be most dangerous in a leak, but the vapor concentration would probably be so high as to preclude an explosion. regards, Jim Friesen Phoenix AZ 79 300SD, 264 K miles 98 ML 320, 147 K miles

**************************************
Check out free AOL at http://free.aol.com/thenewaol/index.adp.
