The early 40 horse VW Vans had "liesurely" acceleration usually measured in furlongs per fortnight. Accelerating onto a Interstate on ramp that was slightly uphill was a terrifying experience - watching the traffic bearing down from behind and the end of the merge lane approaching from ahead, AAAGGGG!! Please let me in!!!

Now, they have become collector vehicles - as the original minivan. I still think about that VW van in the vide passing the Porsche 993! With aerodynamics like that van it must have had a huge amount of hp/torque.

The real early vans had the same engine as the bug, so 40hp.

Supposedly the worst were the diesel VW vans. Something like 48 hp?
