So... Just how well put in are those jacking points in an 83' 300D?
Basically my right front one seems to have lost a couple inches of metal on the vertical surface on either side of the hole in the last year or so. I did jack it up with both the Mercedes Jack and a floor jack directly underneath it in the last couple weeks and I haven't noticed any catastrophic failures... I *almost* thought I might have seen some metal bending, but it was hard to tell because I was being extra stupid and using the plain old 3inch bottom of the Mercedes jack on a nice soft dirt(some gravel) driveway. So I was typically sinking a couple inches into the driveway for the time it took to change each wheel. So the question is: Are the jacking points nice and solidly put together in there otherwise, or do I need to get in there and weld in a couple pieces of steel on either side of the "jack-hole"? Thanks! Levi
