I went to change the oil in my 1997 e320 yesterday, and I can not get the
plastic cap for the oil filter off. I have a regular oil filter socket, but
the taper it has does not allow for it to grab as good as it could, and it
slips. I wrapped the inside of it with a layer of duct tape, but still will
not budge the darn cap. I even used the impact wrench on low, but the cap
beet me on that idea too.
Anyone know a trick to get the darn thing loose? I am assuming Mercedes make
a socket that fits it better then my oil filter socket - Rusty, can you get
such a thing?
Worse thing is I can't blame anyone else for putting it on too tight - I
changed it last year (a whopping 1000 or so miles ago). I have never had
problems before getting it off.
