$1800...Ouch!
I bought a fresh rebuilt , complete engine for my , 92 f350 indirect
injection diesel for $1500 and put a turbo on it for another $500
After the problems I've had the misfortune of seeing others go through
with the electronic direct injection truck diesels, you couldn't give me
one. Yes, they have a bit more power, but how much do you need?

We just took our old truck pulling the 5th wheel camper loaded out to
near 10k pounds up to Branson MO for a little vacation with the kids and
came back down hwy 7 in Arkansas over Jasper mtn just to see how it
would do, and the beast had enough power where I had to slow down for
the curves going up the hill a good portion of which is 20%... and no
computer problems to worry about. And I don't even have the injection
pump turned up all the way to where it should be yet.

If you're having problems with one wire harness, might want to consider
spending a few bucks on the thing and preventively changing out the
remaining wire harnesses and systematically replace the rest of the
sensors so you can go a number of years more without it giving you problems.
If you wait until it stops again, you may ( like most powerstroke owners
) end up spending a fortune to get the problems solved one at a time,
since it generally takes a powerstroke specialist to figure out what's
wrong once they stop, but the parts are easy to replace yourself as a
preventative measure and will cost a bunch less in the long run that
way, plus you won't get mad at the thing and want to dump it.
Around here there's one independent who halfway knows what he's doing on
powerstrokes, and the dealers who know nothing, but are happy to run up
insane diagnostic bills at $90 an hour until they talk the owner into
trading in.
