Ok folks, I am losing my sense of humor about the neutral gearshift interlock
on my 74 240D 4-speed. It supposedly keeps the driver from starting the car in
gear, but now it has failed and the starter can't be engaged by the pullknob.
The gearshift position sensor switch is fine, but the confounded relay,
wherever it is, is locked open. Anyone who can direct me to the location of
the neutral gearshift interlock relay so I can fix or defeat it will be
conferred the title of W115 Foremost and Honorable Master Consultant. BTW, it
is not one of the relays on the firewall or by the battery, as I confirmed the
function of both of these and they serve other purposes and work fine, as well
as the starter itself which works fine.

TIA,

Bruce
